FLIPPED EFL CLASSROOM
Hello, everyone!
In this blog post, I will talk about a new experience of mine: Creating a grammar teaching video for a flipped EFL classroom.
Flipped EFL classroom approach is basically a reverse of inside and outside classroom activities. Students are responsible for other curricular such as watching videos, visiting course-related websites, listening to audios, reading related references, and so on. It is a beneficial approach when applied correctly because it has so many advantages. For example: Students get the first material on their own, at home. This allows students to become familiar to the process of self-study and to learn at their own speed. Also, Flipped classrooms provide up more time for interactive learning, research, experimentation, and practical application. However, even though it has pros, it also has disadvantages. In order to apply this approach to an EFL classroom, students must have an access to technology and internet. Also, classrooms have to be available for integrating technology. However, some classrooms and and students can not access the needs for this approach. So, flipped classroom approach can not be used in every classroom.
In this task, the purpose is to create an informative video for high school prep students. So, me and my pair Nisanur Baş, created a video about ''making requests''. It gives information about '' can, could and would '' modals.
We used Genially as a tool. It was easy to create the video, however we had a couple problems during the process. Such as adding the sound of us. However, although everything, it was a very nice and educative experience.
Take Care!
